A Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing SQL Server databases to ensure their reliability availability and performance. Here are the key aspects of the role:
About the Role
In this opportunity as a Senior Database Administrator you will be responsible to:
- Database Management: Install upgrade and maintain SQL Server instances across multiple environments.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through index tuning query optimization and resource monitoring.
- Backup and Recovery: Design and implement robust backup strategies and disaster recovery processes.
- High Availability Solutions: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Availability Groups Failover Clustering and Log Shipping.
- Monitoring: Enhance SQL monitoring process
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex database issues in production and non-production environments.
- Security Audits: Perform regular security audits and implement measures to protect sensitive data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers IT staff and stakeholders to improve application performance and solve database-related issues.
- Documentation: Accurately document work and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support 24x7 Operations/Production SQL Server 2016
About You
Youre a fit for the role if your background includes:
- A bachelors degree in a relevant field such as Information Systems Information Technology Computer Science or Engineering.
- 5 years of hands-on experience managing SQL Server in various environments
- Proficiency in SQL Server versions including installation configuration and migration
- Strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Deep knowledge of SQL performance tuning query optimization and indexing strategies
- Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (Azure SQL Database AWS RDS etc.)
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience in monitoring and acting on critical production issues (Datadog experience would be optimal)
- AWS Experience (specifically designing implementing and/or supporting RDS)
- Experience in Automation through scripting SSIS package & SSRS Report development
- Excellent communication skills to interact with various teams and stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
