OVERVIEW

Enabling the maritime industrys uptake of low-GHG fuels will require a consistent framework of standards to certify carbon intensity. Accelerating this development requires influence on Regulatory policy and certification standards in alignment with the Centers published LCA guidelines. While biofuels are also in scope this position requires more knowledge of blue fuels or e-fuels.

Our team within the Energy & Fuels department consists of passionate experts spanning: process engineering asset management plant operations fuel procurement and trading and sustainability consulting. ORGANIZATION AND TEAM

Chief Technology Officer - Energy & Fuels > Head of E-Fuels > Secondee

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assessment of gaps and challenges to implementing appropriate certification standards for alternative fuels.
  • Associated topics are likely to include: communicating an expert view about fuel production into regulatory projects and addressing bunkering arrangements and blending issues.
  • Mapping out possible ways for the Center to exert influence in addressing these gaps and challenges.
  • Project management tasks: running meetings realignment of scope translation from objects to tasks.
  • Collaborative scoping of projectsproposing structured plans as part of driving a cross-functional ideation process.
  • Generation of deliverables needed for impact: reports guidelines direct industry guidance or advocacy.
WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
  • As the Center is a do-tank demonstration projects are among likely near-term activities.
  • Success would see a demonstration of a low-GHG-intensity fuel being certified through chain of custody as part of a collaborative project.
  • You and the Center should have a leading role to influence the framework in alignment with our LCA methodology to ensure an effective direction for decarbonization.
  • Additionally you will help the Center clarify what possible certification-related activities could further accelerate decarbonization.
  • Communicating an aligned roadmap could critically help to propel the industry forward in this critical transition period.

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES NEEDED

  • An Engineering degree
  • Experience with fuel certification and regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge relating to fuel supply chains and chain of custody.
  • Able to scope project ideas into concrete collaborative workstreams.
  • Skilled at communicating resultsCan craft messages for targeted audiences as needed to convey complex ideas simply.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Background in chemical engineering relating to fuel production.
  • Experience relating to compliance with certification standards.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary collaborative projects.

  • A can-do attitude Willingness to do what it takes in a start-up environment.
  • Enthusiasm and capability to lead tasks independently -- executing from seed to impactful deliverable.
