A Day in the Life of a Project Engineer (Civil / Roadway)
As a Project Engineer the things you design will get built! Youll use your civil engineering knowledge to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as MicroStation in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will share your knowledge with staff and clients to develop construction documents and details engineering estimates project specifications and concept plans as well mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.
Work Schedule for a Project Engineer (Civil / Roadway)
This full-time Engineer position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week with the option to work from home up to two days a week. The Pittsburgh office of Toole Design is conveniently located in Market Square in the heart of Downtown. It is blocks from multiple bus routes on the future BRT route and near the Wood Street T stop. The office is easily accessed on foot by bicycle and via transit.
We are targeting a salary range of $100000 to $110000 for this position.
Qualifications of a Project Engineer (Civil / Roadway):
A bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering
A Professional Engineering (PE) license (in the Mid-Atlantic states a plus)
5 years of experience developing construction documents with a preference for experience with the City of Pittsburgh or PennDOT
A broad knowledge base in civil engineering with a transportation focus and specific knowledge of horizontal and vertical roadway geometric design (MUTCD and AASHTO)
Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation Inroads MicroStation OpenRoads AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience developing construction documents cost estimates and specifications
Working knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft office applications
You have a keen interest in multimodal and active transportation design preferred
You deliver high-quality work on time and within budget
You enjoy building strong relationships across disciplines and between departments
You have experience or interest in business development
Youre motivated to tackle new challenges and develop creative solutions
