Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Civil Lead to support major construction projects at an energy site. The Civil Lead will provide direct support to the Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager overseeing civil construction activities to ensure safe high-quality and efficient execution of work.
This role is responsible for leading contractor oversight promoting a safe and inclusive work environment monitoring progress against schedule and ensuring compliance with codes drawings specifications and contract requirements. The Civil Lead will serve as a key technical resource for construction planning quality surveillance and contract administration while coordinating daily activities to drive successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the efforts of the Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager on technical and construction activities.
- Promote and maintain a safe inclusive and quality-focused work environment.
- Perform a minimum of 8 STEP observations and 2 CRM observations each month providing real-time feedback to craft employees.
- Abide by all safety rules and contribute to a culture of safety.
- Support implementation of T&PS procedures on the project.
- Inspect construction installations for compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Perform a minimum of 4 monthly Construction Quality Surveillances (CQS) on in-process work in the field.
- Ensure contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are properly developed and followed.
- Assist in planning proper sequence and scheduling of construction activities to meet budget and timeline requirements.
- Monitor measurable quantities installed and compare progress against schedule requirements.
- Identify installation issues assist in developing solutions and ensure corrective actions are executed.
- Maintain awareness of equipment and material transportation schedules to support field activities.
- Support Site Management in the administration of construction contracts.
- Conduct and participate in required meetings (pre-bid pre-mobilization contractor orientation JSAs project status).
- Oversee the daily activities of any Civil Coordinators assigned to the project if applicable.
Required Education and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
- 4-year degree in related field or 10 years of related experience
- 310 years of related experience
- 03 years of related experience
Required Abilities and Skills
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Self-starter proactive with effective communication skills.
- Adequate knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations.
- Adequate knowledge of construction standard practices techniques quality requirements applicable codes and standards for the discipline.
- Adequate knowledge of construction contracts and labor agreements.
- Ability to interface with contractors designers vendors and other parties connected with the project.
- Working knowledge of rigging and lifting methods.
- Working knowledge of welding procedures and codes.
- Working knowledge of state erosion and sedimentation control regulations and BMPs.
- Strong working knowledge of civil construction practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and general computer skills.
