Job Description
Job Title: Member of Technical Staff AI
Location: (On-site) Palo Alto CA / San Francisco CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $150000-$300000
About the Role
We are building the infrastructure for a new kind of web one designed to be used by AI not just humans.
As a Member of Technical Staff you will tackle core engineering challenges at the intersection of large-scale web data retrieval systems and AI-native applications. You will design and build backend systems and APIs that allow AI agents to crawl parse and reason over the web with human-like fluency.
This is not a narrow role. You will collaborate closely across research and product teams shipping foundational infrastructure that directly powers real-world AI use cases. From building retrieval engines to improving API performance your work will shape the trajectory of the company and the future of how AI interacts with the web.
What You Will Do

Design and implement high-performance backend systems and APIs for AI-native applications

Develop retrieval engines and pipelines that scale to large complex web datasets

Contribute to evaluation pipelines ensuring quality speed and reliability in production AI systems

Move fluidly between prototypes and production adapting quickly as the product evolves

Work closely with researchers and product engineers to bring cutting-edge ideas into production

Take full ownership of projects from early design through deployment and iteration
What Were Looking For

2-6 years of professional software engineering experience

Background in AI-first products or high-velocity product startups

Strong skills in backend systems large-scale infrastructure or retrieval technologies

Hands-on experience shipping production systems with measurable impact
