Description

The Financial Lines Claim Leader will be responsible for leadership of the Financial Lines claims group in Canada encompassing the following business segments: Public Management Liability Private & Not-For-Profit Financial Institutions Professional Liability & Cyber Transactional Risk and Surety. Claim types include Directors and Officers Employment Practices Fiduciary Kidnap & Ransom Errors & Omissions Medical Malpractice Cyber Fidelity and Commercial Crime and Reps & is a key leadership position that is directly responsible for leading managing and motivating a team of managers and adjusters who handle claims in all different product lines with varying degrees of complexity. This role includes strategic oversight of the Financial Lines claims function as well as oversight of external related vendors driving consistent operational excellence and delivering upon best practices with ongoing engagement and partnership with underwriting actuary and North American claims colleagues. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual who will thrive in an exciting and fast-paced environment. This role reports to the SVP Head of Canada Claims.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads coaches and develops a team of high-performing staff in a highly engaged manner.

  • Oversees all aspects of the Canadian Financial Lines Claims function ensuring excellence in service delivery technical capability staff quality file management and adherence to all audit and best practices guidelines.

  • Communicates results including claims reserving service levels productivity and operational metrics to the SVP Head of Canada Claims and other key stakeholders.

  • Optimizes management of pending files open-to-close ratios and examiners work product. Seeks opportunities to drive continuous improvements in efficient file handling.

  • Participates regularly in internal and external speaking engagements and delivers thought leadership on behalf of Financial Lines Claims.

  • Provides guidance to underwriters on claims issues such as providing claims data and marketing initiatives.

  • Manages relationships work product and expenses of outside vendors including lawyers independent adjusters and other experts.

  • Maintains superior customer service building and supporting excellent business relationships with all external customers.

  • Regularly meets with clients to review claims processes and emphasizes the Chubb Claims difference and value proposition.

  • Directs professional and career development of staff by way of performance management salary administration and learning and development.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.



Qualifications
  • Completion of a University degree / College diploma and/or equivalent experience required.

  • 15 years of insurance industry experience with prior management experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of litigation management strategies.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for evaluating analyzing and interpreting information.

  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational problem-solving negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proven ability to lead complex claims reviews with multiple stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to achieve strong audit and customer service results holding individuals and teams to the highest standard of delivery.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven strength in people management retentionn and motivation. Has strong proven ability to coach motivate lead and manage a team to achieve results and inspire a shared vision of Claims service excellence. Able to establish an environment that leverages diverse perspectives.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. Capable of working in a collaborative fashion with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered a strong asset.
