At CGI we are hiring an AS400 Mainframe Developer to work on an international project.
Requirements:
- Technical technologist or bachelor degree in IT Software Engineering or related fields.
- Conversational English (B2 or higher).
- Over 7 years of extensive experience with AS400/Mainframe systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of RPG (including free-format RPG) CL DB2 and other AS400/Mainframe technologies.
- Proven experience with the IBMi operating system and its administration.
- Advanced SQL and database optimization skills.
- Experience in performance tuning and system optimization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading technical projects or development teams.
- Solid experience in AS400 RPGLE/SQL DB2 including working with and consuming web APIs.
- Methodical and analytical approach to solving complex problems.
- Proven problem-solving abilities especially in identifying and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks.
- Ability to apply knowledge in designing scalable maintainable and secure solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications on AS400/Mainframe systems.
- Write test and debug programs in RPG and CL.
- Design and maintain databases and files in DB2.
- Implement batch jobs and interactive applications.
- Detect and resolve system issues.
- Optimize existing applications to improve performance and reliability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in system update and maintenance activities.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge development.
- Experience in modernizing legacy applications.
- Familiarity with web services APIs and integration patterns.
- Experience with RDi (Rational Developer for i).
- Understanding of modern DevOps practices applied to legacy systems.
Complementary skills:
We are looking for a Senior AS400/Mainframe Developer to lead the development and maintenance efforts of our critical legacy systems. You will be responsible for designing developing and optimizing high-performance applications on the AS400/Mainframe platform.
This senior role requires deep technical expertise in AS400 technologies. Knowledge is desirable but not mandatory.
