Casual Freight Handler - Whakatane

Our Freight Handlers are responsible for deconsolidating freight from around New Zealand for our Courier Fleet while meeting strict deadlines and ensuring that all freight connections are met. This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced environment.
Were looking for a Casual Freight Handler to be available on an as & when needed basis (on-call). This may be short notice one off shifts to cover sick leave or irregular shifts to cover holiday leave for our small team of Permanent staff. Wed prefer a long-term commitment as we always put on an extra as support over busy periods (i.e. lead up to Christmas). Our shifts run Tue-Sat 03:30-07:30am.
Ideally this will suit someone looking to supplement their income with other employment or study outside these hours.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong work ethic
- Punctuality
- Good personal presentation and communication
- Physically fit (able to lift up to 25kgs). The role requires repetitive heavy lifting and working on your feet for the shift
- The ability to work well within a team environment
- Forklift license is preferred however not essential
A full induction to our business will be provided along with ongoing training and support.
All applicants will be required to provide proof of their eligibility to work in New Zealand and undertake pre-employment checks. The process we follow is:
- Interview with the depot supervisor at the depot to see what the work involves
- Complete our Employment Application Forms either when you come in or via email with photo ID (front & back of license)
- Screening we use an external party who run a Reference check with your previous employers a Criminal History Report
- If successful youll then complete Drug & Alcohol Screening
