Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure-track) in Biomedicine and Drug-Body Interactions

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (Tenure-track) with a research focus in Biomedicine and Drug-Body Interactions.

Research at SBS covers a broad range of topics in biological and biomedical sciences which include cancer and cell biology microbiology and immunology genetics and genomics infectious diseases proteins and proteomics structural biology biochemistry chemical biology and drug discovery plant biology and biological data science. Our investigator-led projects offer many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school but also with other departments in the university. SBS at NTU provides cutting edge infrastructures such as state-of-the-art structural biology and biophysics facilities (Titan Krios Cryo-EM Rigaku FRX X-ray generator BLI ITC) confocal microscopy a complete set of proteomics facilities and a modern computer cluster. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to access other state of the art facilities on campus and to establish fruitful collaborations with other Schools and Research Institutes on campus.

Requirements:

We are looking for individuals with a well-dened research vision and an outstanding publication record. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program as well as to contribute to departmental undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.

Candidates with a chemistry background and strong experience and expertise in translating basic biomedical research to drug discovery are especially encouraged to apply. Interested research areas include those in medicinal chemistry molecular pharmacology chemical biology pharmaceutical biotechnology or a relevant discipline. Successful candidate is expected to lead research programs that employ techniques of the above disciplines to discover novel molecular entities that act as enzyme inhibitors receptor agonists/antagonists PPI inhibitors molecular glues or protein degraders etc. for disease intervention.

Competitive applicants should have an excellent record of research productivity with a well-developed research plan and a strong potential or history for securing external grant funding. Successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the academic and research community through collaboration and addition to developing internationally recognized research teaching excellence in chemical biology medicinal chemistry or molecular pharmacology is also expected of the successful candidate. S/he is expected to teach both foundational and advanced undergraduate courses as well as graduate courses in biology.
