We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MSSQL Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage maintain and optimize our organizations Microsoft SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will ensure the performance availability and security of critical database systems supporting various applications and business operations 24/7/365. This role requires a proactive individual with an understanding of database architecture best practices and troubleshooting. This individual should have a deep understanding of MSSQL.
Essential Responsibilities:
Database Installation & Configuration: Install configure and upgrade SQL Server instances (all versions) across various environments (Dev QA UAT Prod).
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor database performance identify bottlenecks and implement solutions for query optimization indexing strategies and database configuration to ensure optimal performance.
Backup & Recovery: Design implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability including disaster recovery planning and execution.
Security Management: Manage database security including user permissions roles authentication and encryption adhering to security policies and compliance requirements.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for database-related issues including connectivity performance and data corruption offering timely resolution.
Monitoring & Alerting: Implement and maintain database monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and address potential issues.
Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth and resource utilization performing capacity planning to ensure scalability and future needs are met.
Data Integrity & Corruption Checks: Implement and regularly perform data integrity checks to detect and resolve database corruption ensuring data consistency and reliability.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop maintain and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all database administration tasks and processes.
Additional Responsibilities
Collaborate with development teams to optimize database designs and SQL queries for new applications and features.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and holiday support of critical production systems.
Stay current with the latest SQL Server technologies features and industry best practices.
Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new database technologies and tools.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members or developers on database best practices.
Develop refine and maintain SQL scripts for automation of routine DBA tasks.
Participate in auditing and compliance activities related to data management.
Support multiple concurrent projects managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
Collaborate with other teams during incident calls to diagnose and resolve database-related issues.
Manage and prioritize database-related tickets through a formal ticketing system ensuring timely resolution.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with SSAS SSIS and SSRS
Experience with transactional replication
Experience with Powershell
Experience with version control (ie: Github)
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor degree required or equivalent experience
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Working experience with MS Office tools (such as Outlook MS Teams Excel PowerPoint etc)
7 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role
7 years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
7 years of TSQL experience
Other Requirements:
MCTS MCITP and/or MVP certifications a plus
MS SQL Server certifications and/or experience writing advanced T-SQL queries
Experience working with/supporting other eDiscovery applications
