QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Dietetics Nutrition or Food Service Management Culinary Arts Food & Nutrition Sciences or Business preferred.
- Dietetics/Registered Dietitian preferred not required.
- Dependable and of good moral character.
- Ability to pass and maintain ServSafe Certification and become a ServSafe Trainer.
- Excellent written and verbal communications required.
- Excellent computer skills proficient in Microsoft programs Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively tactfully and courteously with staff students parents vendors and the general public.
- Ability to assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently.
- Ability to maintain self-control and complete tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to solve practical problems independently and with others.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.

- Familiar with Administrative review and on-site reviews in accordance with MDE.
- Supervise individuals at multiple work sites.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY:
Assistant to the Food Service Director in conducting on site reviews monitoring summer programs according to USDA guidelines and supervising Food Service staff.
- Assesses customer preferences industry trends and current research for the purpose of planning menus that encourage participation in the Child Nutrition Program.
- Conducts nutritional analysis on new food items for the purpose of ensuring the provision of healthy nutritional and well-balanced meals.
- Coordinates training activities with nutritional services employees on menu planning and production for the purpose of ensuring nutritional compliance with the USDA and conformance to District policies procedures and USDA professional standards.
- Coordinates with head cooks at school sites for the purpose of ensuring that recipes are meeting dietary guidelines and compliance with the USDA.
- Develops cost effective menus and initiates production records for breakfast lunch snack and dinner programs for the District and contracted services for the purpose of ensuring nutritional compliance with the USDA.
- Works with parents on nutritional needs for the purpose of finding alternative menu options for students with food allergies and/or medical conditions that require special attention.
- Responsible for discretely handling confidential information and materials.
- Supervise and monitor Summer Food Service Sites in compliance with USDA rules and regulations.
- Conduct site visits as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Supervision of kitchen staff including evaluation discipline or discharge if necessary and interviewing potential candidates with recommendation to hire.
- Prepare review and monitor required state reporting.
- Maintains nutritional and allergen information on the Nutrition Services website for the purpose of conveying accurate nutritional information.
- Responsible for maintaining the Food Service department website.
- Conducts him/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and projects a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
