Job Description

Rochester Academy Charter school is hiring a full-time HR Generalist / Assistant Business Administrator(ABA) effective immediately.

Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is a public charter school primarily serving students from the city of Rochester. Over 90% of our students identify as an individual of color. We are a college preparatory school and use data to determine how best to foster student growth. RACS seeks to prepare all graduates for active citizenship.

Job description: The HR Generalist/ABA contributes to Rochester Academy Charter Schools mission of student achievement in any way by assisting business office services. The HR Generalist/ABA will provide daily office services such as office clerical and office paperwork duties that include contacting staff members and providers when needed. Additional responsibilities include assisting all other business office services when available.

Responsibilities: The HR Generalist/ABA has the following responsibilities and duties:

  • Running payroll with ADP software and performing all payroll related functions
  • Collecting PTO time off sheets and entering them into the system
  • Collecting and reviewing timesheets/additional work hours/ preparing for the payroll
  • Delivering new HR onboarding packet for the new staff members
  • Helping staff members to complete the required forms as needed
  • Performing all human resources related functions for the staff faculty and other personnel
  • Performing all payroll related functions
  • Processing new hire paperwork/benefits for new employees and maintaining personnel files
  • Processing all employee separations
  • Processing and following retirement reports and processes
  • Administering all employee benefits and working with the brokers for claims and benefit changes including open enrollment (including leave administration: STD LTD PFL)
  • Processing workers compensation and student injury claims
  • Preparing contracts for the staff members
  • Preparing and submitting all payroll and benefit related reporting
  • Maintaining compliance with all 19-A requirements for school bus drivers
  • Assisting Business Office Duties and conducting research when available per request.

Requirements: The HR Generalist/ABA should have the following skills education and experience:

  • Bachelors degree (Business Administration preferred)
  • Two - three years of Human Resources experience preferred
  • Office experience similar to the above tasks for at least two years (school settings preferred)
  • Multitasking and calculation skills for purchase calculation and verifications
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel etc.)
  • Written and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills ability to prioritize and comfortable working independently
