Job Summary:
Now hiring for a full-time Genetic Counselor to provide clinical cancer risk assessment/genetic counseling in the Cancer Center and Hereditary Cancer Clinic. The position is offered through the (Medicine) Division of Medical Oncology located at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) in Aurora Colorado. The position is in the Clinical Practice Track and will be involved in some course instruction. It is not eligible for tenure.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing cancer risk assessments to patients;
Conducting in-person and telehealth genetic counseling sessions;
Pedigree creation using Progeny software;
Coordinating genetic testing and dissemination of results.
Assisting patients in obtaining appropriate medical management from their health care providers.
Consult in an oncology team as a genetics specialist for newly diagnosed patients in Cancer Center Clinics;
Attend a variety of specialty tumor boards;
Supervise genetic counseling graduate students;
Enhance the Hereditary Cancer Clinic through educational outreach to grow demand for patient services and to grow the clinic into a genetic resource for the state and region; and to provide genetic expertise for Cancer Center researchers.
Performs other duties as required and/or requested based on the needs of the patients clinic and department.
Work Location:
Hybrid this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule and as needed for in-person meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor Clinical Practice Track Senior Instructor Clinical Practice Track or Assistant Professor Clinical Practice Track based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor:
Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling
Board Eligible or Certified in Genetic Counseling
Sr. Instructor:
Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling
Certified in Genetic Counseling
10 years experience as a Clinical Genetic Counselor
Assistant Professor:
PhD in Genetic Counseling
Certified in Genetic Counseling
15 years experience as a Clinical Genetic Counselor
Years of relevant experience may be substituted for a terminal degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred experience in cancer genetic counseling specialty
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a team reflecting positive behaviors toward patients families physicians and all clinical and research staff. Responds to customers of all age groups in a friendly prompt and caring manner while maintaining confidentiality. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism.
Strong critical thinking organizational communication writing and interpersonal skills.
Seeking a self-starter and ability to troubleshoot issues on their own.
A must-have for patient care: excellent verbal communication telephone skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Instructor: $100000 to $105000
Sr. Instructor: $110000 to $120000
Assistant Professor: $130000 to $140000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
