Job Description

Team Lead Engineering Development Group
Location: FMC Stine Research Center Newark DE

Overview:
FMC Agricultural Solutions is seeking a Team Lead Engineer to head the Engineering Development Group (EDG) at our Stine R&D facility. This role is critical to advancing innovation in agrochemical discovery by leading the design development and deployment of custom research equipment processes and technologies that support high-impact discovery research in Crop Protection.

About the Engineering Development Group:
The EDG provides specialized engineering support to R&D discovery programs by creating novel tools systems and processes that enhance research effectiveness precision and throughput. The group focuses on experimental design and custom fabricationranging from unique electromechanical assay systems to automated equipment and innovative consumables used in controlled environment research.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of custom equipment systems and processes from concept through to operational deployment.

Design and prototype innovative tools and technologies to support biological chemical and formulation research.

Conduct experimental evaluations to validate design concepts and system performance.

Oversee CAD design fabrication and assembly of prototype equipment with internal and external partners.

Provide engineering calculations system sizing and technical specifications to support project planning.

Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including scientists engineers and external vendors to ensure project alignment with research goals.

Support internal equipment deployment and provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for R&D operations.

Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders across technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Qualifications:

Masters degree in Mechanical Electrical Agricultural or related Engineering field.

510 years of experience in engineering R&D ideally in agriculture agrochemical or controlled environment systems.

Hands-on experience with prototyping electromechanical systems robotics fluidics and automation technologies.

Proficiency in CAD design and CAM programming; experience with custom fabrication and machining practices.

Working knowledge of agricultural application systems (spraying seeding) control systems sensing technologies and telemetry.

Demonstrated project leadership and ability to manage multiple priorities from concept through implementation.

Core Competencies:

Strong technical acumen and a practical hands-on approach to engineering problem-solving.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and deliver outcomes within scope and timeline.

Excellent planning documentation and communication skills.

Familiarity with commercial mechanical components and systems-level thinking in electromechanical design.

Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering functional high-quality solutions that support scientific innovation.
