Job Description
The Home Skills Specialist is a member of the DBH Housing Department tasked with supporting adults with serious and persistent mental illness living in DBHs housing facilities. The Home Skills Specialist provides personal services skill development and targeted case management services to the clients living in DBH housing and completes documentation for these services as well as any other clinical information collected while working with them.
The Home Skills Specialist is required to live in a personal apartment on-site at the DBH housing facility they manage. Rent utilities and internet access will be provided by DBH and may be reported as taxable earnings.

The Home Skills Specialist will be required to complete the following essential job functions daily:
Compensation
The successful candidate will be compensated at the rate of $17.75 per hour for office hours and other services provided to the residents and other clients at DBH. Rent utilities and internet access will be provided by DBH and may be reported as taxable earnings.
The employee will be expected to provide their own food and other essential living items.
Qualifications
Required Experience
Demonstrated experience in the following areas is essential:
The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.
Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws including no use of medical marijuana.
Skills/Abilities
The Home Skills Specialist must possess the following skills abilities and qualifications to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
The successful candidates must have the ability to model and teach independent living addition the Home Skills Specialist will be required to be a positive role model for how to spend leisure time healthy and appropriate activities to do during down time/when bored. They will need to conduct discussions and teach basic hygiene good boundaries housekeeping cooking and the ability to face lifes challenges.
Preference will be given for applicants who have proficient computer skills and experience/education in social work or psychology.
Employment Schedule
Work schedules at DBH are established to meet the needs of our clients and the agency. Program Supervisors with the approval of Program Directors determine the specific schedules for their assigned departments and have the authority to ask employees to work a different shift and/or in a different location on a short-term or permanent basis to meet the departments needs.
The Home Skills Specialist is required to maintain 20-25 hours per week of office hours with two (2) days off per week. Office hours may be flexible for the Home Skills Specialist to attend class perform other personal duties or maintain other employment if necessary.

Failure to pass either screening will result in the termination of any job offer submitted and/or employment for any individual who has started employment while the criminal background screening is in process.
