Job Status: Non-exempt

The Engineering Recruitment Specialist reports to the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering (or designate) at Houston Christian University. The primary purposes of this position are to create develop and maintain relationships with regional high schools with exceptionally strong academic ranking and/or STEM-focused academies resulting in opportunities for STEM-focused recruiting visits to the schools and visits by those schools to HCU; provide leadership for the Colleges recruiting efforts; and advise a cohort of Engineering and Computing students.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicate externally the vision for project-based learning in the Department of Engineering and Computing and HCUs STEM programs
- Create develop and maintain relationships with regional high schools with exceptionally strong academic ranking and/or STEM-focused academies
- Schedule and execute STEM-focused recruiting visits to high schools
- Schedule and execute on-campus visits by high schools
- Serve as advisor for a cohort of Engineering and Computing students
- Represent and advise at Admissions-defined registration events
- Serve on campus committees as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or Dean (or designate)
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (prior experience in STEM preferred)
- Prior experience in higher education preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Welcoming presence demeanor and ability to work with various levels of internal and external constituents
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Commitment to the ministry and mission of HCU
