As a Custodian for Perkins you will perform general cleaning and building maintenance duties. Working independently or in small groups you will be assigned to clean and keep areas in school buildings or similar buildings in orderly condition using equipment chemicals and cleaning solvents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Maintains assigned areas in building(s); performing general cleaning and building maintenance duties such as sweeping mopping scrubbing waxing buffing of floors. Spot removing shampooing and vacuuming of carpeted office/area spaces recreational areas hallways stairs windows bathrooms high/low dusting of furniture and common areas empties trash and garbage containers.

• Maintains standards of cleanliness sanitation orderliness and safety which comply with criteria established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and OSHA.

• Maintains custodians room and/or areas in neat orderly manner Ensures replenishment of products/supplies in assigned areas.

• Posts signs to advertise slippery or dangerous conditions.

• Moves furniture and/or equipment as required into various configurations for assemblies meetings and other special events.

• Secures and disposes of any chemical cleaning products in accordance with OSHA standards.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and print and speak simple sentences.
