Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections Nursing Supervisor. Under the supervision of the Regional Nursing Manager the DRC Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that DRC nurses at the assigned Department of Corrections locations maintain accurate documentation and reports related to dosing dispensing storage and ordering medication. Additionally the DRC Nursing Supervisor is responsible for providing direction training management oversight and support to DRC nurses at all CMS Medication Units within the DRC.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparing DRC nursing schedules.
  • Assists with onboarding and training new DRC nursing staff.
  • Assists in training nursing staff on updates and changes in nursing protocol.
  • Fills in as dosing nurse as necessary including assisting with DRC medication deliveries.
  • Obtains vital signs and urine samples as necessary.
  • Maintains processes for medication management including oversight of medication protocols and drug screening procedures as defined by CMS Policy and Ohio DRC Program Protocols.
  • Ensures adherence to all DEA Board of Pharmacy and federal regulations by supporting nurses and participating in audits.
  • Participates in all assigned weekly and monthly meetings.
  • Serves as point-of-contact for assigned DRC nursing staff to address questions and concerns regarding policies and client care: must be consistently available to staff with a positive attitude.
  • Maintains client/clinic records in accordance with organization state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Participates in nursing on-call rotation for company.
  • Maintain inventory records/DEA binder and assists with all required reports (daily monthly quarterly biannual).

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively between all organizational levels and with outside providers.
  • Ability to coach train and motivate employees and evaluate their performance.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge including ability to navigate in electronic health records.
  • General knowledge and aptitude for working independently with adults of mixed ethnic groups.
  • Culturally competent and sensitive to client and employee needs.
  • Demonstrated ability in medication administration accuracy and ability to maintain accurate client records.
  • Excellent organizational skills accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving conflict resolution time management and strong customer service skills.
  • Strong team player comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality to ensure compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Flexible with the ability to work in a continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
  • Participates in continuing education and/or other job-related training.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensed LPN or RN in state(s) of employment
  • CPR (active)
  • Knowledge of the signs of intoxication and opioid withdrawal symptoms required
  • Experience in the field of substance use disorders preferred not required
  • Motor Vehicle Valid state-issued drivers license and MVR clearance is required; a 39-month MVR is required for any applicant at the time of the interview.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Frequent use of a telephone computer printer fax machine and copier
  • Frequent use of the internet and various web browser software and Microsoft Office products including Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint

Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description:

  • Ability to travel to assigned CMS and DRC sites.
  • Prolonged sitting standing frequent bending stooping or stretching associated with an office environment
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard
  • Frequent and prolonged typing and operation of computer keyboard and telephones
  • Some lifting may be required: Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
