Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Chemical Technician to provide technical and analytical services critical to the reliable operation of a fossil fuel power plant. This role focuses on water treatment chemical analysis and environmental compliance to ensure equipment protection regulatory adherence and plant efficiency.
The Chemical Technician supports boiler water treatment fuels testing and environmental monitoring while maintaining plant laboratory instrumentation and assisting in onsite treatment facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesPromote and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
Perform chemical analysis of water wastewater fuels coal ash petroleum products and scrubber absorber chemistry.
Provide chemical protection of steam-generating equipment to minimize outages efficiency loss and corrosion/deposit damage.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to water discharges; compile evaluate and report plant performance data.
Operate and maintain water treatment plants (demineralized/service water) and assist with sewage treatment plant operations.
Perform analytical testing of boiler water chemistry and maintain related records.
Calibrate operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and sampling equipment.
Conduct minor maintenance activities (e.g. lubrication) related to water treatment equipment.
Serve as a Hazmat team member including respirator qualification and unloading of hazardous liquid and gaseous chemicals.
Provide support during call-outs and overtime working flexible schedules to meet plant requirements.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Chemistry or a related field.
Minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry required.
Experience (Preferred):
Boiler/water analysis.
Work experience in a water treatment plant or production of deionized water.
Use calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
Industrial/manufacturing or power plant environment.
Skills:
Ability to recognize color changes in titrations.
Knowledge of analytical methods and chemical testing techniques.
Strong safety awareness attention to detail and adaptability for emergent work needs.
Competency with Microsoft Office and laboratory software tools.
