Employment Term (days): 197 (Grant-funded; Position funding expired 7/2026)

Pay Scale: Administrative - Instructional 2

Primary Purpose:

Assists the Highly Mobile & At-Risk Student Programs Coordinator with furthering positive outcomes for homeless students and unaccompanied youth by removing any barrier to school attendance that the family unit may be experiencing due to housing instability or other adverse factors.

Qualification Guidelines:

Education/Certifications:

High School Diploma

Bachelors Degree (preferred but experience may replace degree)

Certification in Social Work (preferred)

Experience:

Previous experience working with at-risk students/families or runaway homeless youth

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

McKinney-Vento legislation and policies

Knowledge of VISD and community support systems and services available to students/families

Ability to work independently

Ability to navigate community service systems for children and families (such as: mental health special education juvenile justice child protective services adult probation/parole housing and bill pay assistance)

Excellent people skills

Sound judgement in situations which may be considered high risk

Uses a laptop Microsoft Office and other technological devices to complete work assignments.
