About the Role
The Research Associate II brings growing expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research and is a key contributor to multi-sector evaluation and applied research projects with a strong emphasis on public health. Operating with a high degree of independence this role collaborates with a team to design studies analyze data develop reports and present findings in ways that influence policy and practice.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in hybrid work environments enjoys engaging with diverse communities has experience in consulting excels at managing complex projects mentoring junior staff and translating research into actionable real-world insights.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Client Engagement
- Serve as the primary client contact on assigned projects.
- Lead planning coordination and execution of research and evaluation activities.
- Support business development including proposal writing and client relationship management.
- Ensure adherence to research protocols and high-quality deliverables.
Data Collection & Field Work
- Design and implement data collection strategies using mixed methods (surveys interviews focus groups site visits).
- Lead outreach efforts including recruitment of hard-to-reach populations.
- Manage and clean data sets ensuring accuracy and quality.
Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Create compelling visuals charts and codebooks to support interpretation of findings.
- Draft research reports literature reviews and presentations tailored to stakeholders.
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
- Supervise field staff external consultants and other team members as needed.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal learning and quality improvement.
- Support the preparation of materials for data collection and participant outreach.
- Participate in conferences professional development and opportunities for publication.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Public Health or a related field with at least 2 years of post-graduate research experience strongly preferred.
(Masters degree with 5 years of post-graduate relevant experience will also be considered.)
- Strong experience with quantitative research methodologies including survey design large-scale data analysis and managing complex datasets.
- Familiarity with qualitative methods and comfort working in mixed-methods projects.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g. SPSS SAS R Stata) and survey platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders in consulting environments.
- Excellent written verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask prioritize assignments and independently manage workflows across multiple projects.
- Flexible adaptable and comfortable working across shifting priorities and multiple focus
