About the Job

The Food and Water division at Alfa Laval is looking for a Pharmaceutical and Biotech Business Development Manager to join our team. The position will report to the local Divisional manager but be part of a wider Cluster community focused on growing Pharma business. This role is pivotal in driving growth by acquiring new customers across our Business Units presenting our value proposition securing homologations and expanding our network. Additionally Business Development Managers will develop new technologies within existing accounts in close alignment with local sales teams. They will collaborate closely with Product & Application experts to ensure access to specialized technology expertise. We will define clear KPIs for this rolebalancing long-term value positioning and large greenfield projects with short-term wins such as retrofits replacements and deployment of already homologated technologies. This role is supported by the Product & Application experts and local and central sales organizations.

You will be responsible for identifying business opportunities and securing end-user sales within the Pharma market for Alfa Laval Hygienic Fluid Handling & Food Heat Transfer and Separation products. Engaging with key end users and EPCs you will be located in the UK or preferably Ireland. This will be a home-based role and the successful candidate will have a full driving license as travel will be frequent in the UK&I.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Develop and manage leads to establish and grow the business pipeline.
  • Be active in the market and focus on securing visits meetings and interactions with customers focusing on customer needs whilst understanding and highlighting our value proposition.
  • Be an ambassador of the Alfa Laval guiding principles and promote our core environmental and sustainability drivers.
  • Use the CRM tool and other tools in a consistent and qualitative way to support the sales process and make decisions.
  • Support new product launches and initiatives coming into the market.
  • Build strong internal relationships and liaise with other departments (both locally and within the group) including technical and customer support marketing operations finance and logistics.
  • Scout and develop new end-user customer bases and set them up in our systems when applicable.
  • Establish new relationships with pharma EUs System Builders and EPCs.
  • Act as a lead generator across applicable pharma products.
  • Create a network within Biotech and Pharma.
  • Establish Alfa Laval on product specification lists.

Who You Are

You are a self-motivated team player with the ability to easily network in an international and cross-cultural environment working in line with Alfa Laval drivers: Action Interaction and Satisfaction.

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical products drug development lifecycle and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent negotiation communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking with a results-driven and analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools Microsoft Office and business intelligence platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent in Life Sciences Pharmacy Business or related field.
  • Experience in business development sales or relevant industry experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
