YSS is looking for a Program Managerfor our Rooftop Gardensteam. This person will lead the development and delivery of educational programming centered on urban agriculture for emerging adults (ages 1825). This role combines curriculum design classroom instruction and program coordination to create transformative learning experiences that build skills in sustainability food systems and green careers.
Join YSS and help emerging adults grow skills confidence and community rootsone garden at a time. Responsibilities include:
- Design and implement a 6-month curriculum focused on urban agriculture sustainability and workforce readiness.
- Facilitate engaging hands-on classes and workshops for emerging adults focused on workforce readiness and life skills development.
- Integrate life skills environmental literacy and career exploration into instructional content.
- Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Oversee the daily operations of rooftop garden sites ensuring they are safe productive and educational.
- Coordinate with community partners schools and workforce agencies to recruit and support program participants.
- Supervise and mentor interns volunteers and part-time educators.
- Manage program budgets materials and reporting requirements.
- Build relationships with local organizations to enhance program offerings and job placement opportunities.
- Organize community events garden tours and service-learning projects.
- Promote the program through outreach storytelling and social media in collaboration with the communications team.

MUST HAVES - Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Education Environmental Studies Urban Agriculture or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in youth education program development or urban agriculture.
- Travel including transporting clients is required for this position. For YSS insurance purposes you must:
- be 21 years of age
- have a valid state-issued drivers license
- have a clean driving record and have adequate insurance coverage per YSS policy.
SHOULD HAVES - Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for sustainability food justice and community empowerment
- Strong classroom leadership with a focus on adult learners
- Skilled in experiential curriculum design and facilitation
- Organized proactive and an effective team leader
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Skilled in time management for both self and others
- Capable of managing resources efficiently to meet program goals.
The IDEAL Candidate Will:
