Manager of Equity Initiatives

Job Summary

The Manager of Equity Initiatives role is an integral part of the Equity and Inclusion Team managing the logistics of KIPP DCs equity programming and communications ensuring that equity initiatives are planned and executed thoroughly and effectively. The starting salary range for this role is $78436-$85256. This is a full-time role based at KIPP DCs Headquarters Office with occasional flexibility with an anticipated start date of October 1st.

About the Role

In this crucial role youll be responsible for the project management of several key equity initiatives including the annual Pride Summit network-wide communications the coordination of professional development sessions and DEI onboarding. Youll leverage your project management expertise and understanding of diversity equity and inclusion ensuring that KIPP DC maintains our commitment to becoming a more diverse equitable and inclusive school system.

As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams frequently partner with other headquarters teams or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work this role allows for

and will be required to be onsite 4 days per week.


Location and Type of Work

Responsibilities

Project Management (60% of time)

  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders for event planning and management for KIPP DC DEI events and professional development session
  • Manages the planning of DEI events and initiatives including Pride Summit Black Male Educator Convening and professional development sessions for teachers
  • Manage the application process for DEI fellowships and programming including updating and revising rubrics and reference process

Facilitating Onboarding and Professional Development (20% of time)

  • Facilitate weekly DEI section of New Hire Orientation
  • Design & facilitate DEI professional development for new hires three times per year
  • Manage asynchronous DEI trainings for onboarding to set up new hires for success with a realistic understanding of their commitment to DEI as a KIPP DC teammate

Communications & Research (10% of time)

  • Stay up to date with trends in education and in diversity equity and inclusion and bring fresh and innovative ideas to the work
  • Manage KIPP DCs DEI newsletter by collaborating with other teams researching cultural awareness days and months and writing updates related to the regions DEI work
  • Supports the Equity & Inclusion team with communication for key initiatives including Equity Fellowship application and updates advertising for events and reminder and follow-up communications for professional development opportunities

Data Analysis (10 % of time)

  • Create and update data system for progress monitoring goals and initiatives for KIPP DCs Regional Equity Agenda
  • Support Equity & Inclusion team with data analysis for specific DEI programming

Requirements & Preferences

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of two years of work experience related to diversity equity and inclusion
  • Minimum of two years of project management experience
  • Experience working in an urban K-12 school system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in an urban K-12 school
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace applications
  • Excellent writing communication and presentation skills
  • Strong cultural competency skills including ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and an extraordinary attention to detail

Benefits & Compensation

KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:

  • The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $78436-$85256. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity equity and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector.
  • KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical dental and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability long term disability life insurance and a membership to One Medical.
  • KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
  • Currently individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days up to 10 paid sick days and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
