Job Purpose and Impact

The Captain provides safe and efficient transportation for passengers on the organizations aircraft worldwide ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. With minimal supervision this job serves as the pilot in command for domestic flights and as the second in command for international flights following the instructions of the chief pilot. This job is assigned to a specific aircraft model and primarily operates within a designated geography and may occasionally serve outside of the designated area.

Key Accountabilities

  • FLIGHT SAFETY & EFFICIENCY: Safely operates the organization aircraft in accordance with the chief pilots instruction to ensure the passengers and crew experience a reliable comfortable and timely flight.
  • OPERATIONAL COMPLIANCE: Acts as a domain authority related to all areas of operations including compliance with applicable safety and regulatory guidance conducts complex operations to the highest safety standards and maintains knowledge of technical and regulatory developments affecting operations.
  • PRE-FLIGHT INSPECTION: Performs pre-flight inspections of the aircraft to ensure it is in proper working condition.
  • FLIGHT PLANNING: Applies time based flight and navigation solutions to accomplish customer transportation requirements provides efficient planning of each flight using all applicable weather information and reports and supports coordination of assigned trips.
  • IN-FLIGHT COMMUNICATION: Communicates with air traffic control and follows their instructions to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as pilot dispatcher baggage handler flight attendant and security monitor assists in troubleshooting maintenance issues and performs additional duties as directed by the chief pilot to ensure flights operate efficiently.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL COMPLIANCE: Aligns with all requirements of the companys ground and flight training programs in the policy manual and with the policies contained in the operations manual and key regulations to maintain consistent flight standards.
  • MAINTENANCE ASSISTANCE: Provides support on maintenance issues that develop away from the aircraft hangar and performs minor maintenance functions allowed under aviation regulations in partnership with the maintenance staff to ensure safe and timely departures and arrivals.
  • MENTORSHIP: Coaches first officers to improve their performance and technique with focus on a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • First class medical certificate
  • Able to travel for extended periods
  • Airline transport pilot certificate with multi engine land rating
  • Minimum flight time experience of 2000 hours total time 1000 hours of turbine powered aircraft (previous jet experience)
  • General knowledge of global political geographical regulatory physiological and meteorological requirements to ensure safe worldwide operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with flight and ground operations regulatory compliance
  • Previous Type ratings in a Jet
  • Previous CRM (Crew Resource Management) experience
  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Corporate experience (interacting with passengers)
