Stock Assistant

37.5 Hours per week.  Tuesday - Saturday.  08:00/09:00 - 16:00/17:00.

Purpose of the Post: 

To work with the laboratory and goods in team to organise and control the stock levels for the Water Microbiology laboratory.

• Take responsibility for the stock control system ensuring it is updated contemporaneously.
• Complete routine and monthly stock takes as required and ensure compliance to electronic systems.
• Submit stock take figures to finance at the end of each month.
• Orders the stock for all areas of the Microbiology laboratory.
• Ensure Kanban is kept to the correct standards ensuring they always have sufficient amounts to complete testing on time.
• Unpack stock on arrival into the required location ensuring compliance with stock rotation so that old stock is used before new stock.
• Ensure all stock locations are maintained in an organised clean and safe manner and align with 5S standards
• Communicate with customers and fulfill any consumable requests internally or direct from the supplier.
• Co-ordinate the packing and distribution of consumables to be sent out to customers working with logistics to implement the most efficient and cost effective way to complete this.
• Regular review of batch sizes delivery lot sizes and lead-times to minimize inventory and deliver the right quantity when needed.
• Support the laboratory by preparing materials for testing cleaning and other duties as required.
• Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
• Clean working areas and remove waste.
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
• A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
• Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department.

Qualifications :

• Experience in working in part of a team 
• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications with strong typing proficiency 
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Self-motivated with a proactive work ethic
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy
