Location:Qatar
Reports To: Maintenance/Engineering Supervisor
The Lead Instrument Technician will oversee the installation maintenance calibration and troubleshooting of all instrumentation and control systems within the sewage water treatment plant. The role ensures reliable plant operation compliance with safety and environmental standards and the continuous optimization of instrumentation performance.
Supervision & Coordination
Lead and guide the team of instrument technicians in daily activities.
Plan assign and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance tasks for all instrumentation and control systems.
Maintenance & Calibration
Perform installation calibration and functional testing of instruments sensors analyzers transmitters flow meters level gauges pH meters SCADA systems PLCs and other control devices.
Ensure accuracy and reliability of process measurements by adhering to calibration schedules.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or replacements of defective components in field instruments and control panels.
Respond to instrumentation breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
System Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor SCADA and PLC systems to ensure optimal process performance.
Work with operations and process teams to improve efficiency and reliability of plant instrumentation.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health safety and environmental regulations.
Maintain proper documentation for all instrumentation maintenance calibrations and modifications.
Procurement & Inventory
Coordinate with procurement for spare parts tools and consumables.
Maintain inventory records for instrumentation equipment and materials.
Training & Development
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians.
Promote continuous improvement and best practices in instrumentation maintenance.
Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation Engineering Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
Minimum 8 10 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role in sewage or water treatment plants.
Strong knowledge of SCADA PLCs process instrumentation and industrial automation systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes and related environmental regulations.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
Good communication and coordination skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
