About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy integrity and timeliness of all financial reporting and compliance while also contributing to continuous improvement of financial systems and controls.
This role requires strong experience with Xero payroll processing and advanced Excel skills as well as a thorough understanding of Australian accounting standards and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements including profit & loss balance sheet and cash flow reports
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure accurate and timely processing
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity
- Process and review payroll ensuring accuracy in superannuation entitlements and compliance with Australian payroll legislation
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts
- Generate and analyse financial data using Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables VLOOKUPs charts and formulas)
- Identify opportunities to improve internal financial systems processes and internal controls
- Liaise with external accountants auditors and other stakeholders as needed
- Support ad hoc financial projects or reporting as required by the business
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience preferably within an Australian business context
- Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
- Experience in payroll processing with knowledge of Australian taxation superannuation and leave entitlements
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and propose solutions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated reliable and capable of working independently and meeting deadlines
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- CPA CA or other professional accounting certification
- Experience working in a remote setting or with distributed teams
- Familiarity with financial compliance and tax obligations under Australian laws
