Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Simulation Operations Specialist in the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies.
Under the supervision of the Simulation Center Director the Simulation Operations Specialist provides technical and mechanical support for the Monmouth University/Monmouth Medical Center Linda Grunin Simulation Lab and Learning Center.Using industry standards and established best practices the Simulation Operations Specialist is responsible for the audiovisual equipment inventory support maintenance and set up computer software support as well as care of manikins and other equipment used in the simulation program.
This is a 12-month full-time position. Evening or weekend shifts may be required.
This is an in-person on-campus non-remote position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
- Program simulator software to model simulators physiological response to instructor specifications
- Operate patient simulators and cameras during simulations.
- Operate and maintain audio-visual and debriefing systems.
- Maintain repair and troubleshoot simulation equipment including: human patient simulators (HPS) computers monitors and a variety of healthcare equipment; audiovisual and debriefing systems; virtual reality laboratory computers and other equipment; and computer-based training programs.
- Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including but not limited to: beds/examination tables headwalls patient monitors and other healthcare equipment; medication dispensing systems; and vital sign monitors.
- Communicate effectively with manufacturers and vendors regarding maintenance repair update and technology changes and coordinate upgrades to software and equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with Simulation Director to organize maintain and create orders for simulation hardware software equipment and supplies.
- Provide recommendations on equipment supplies and materials.
- Maintain warranty repair records and reference materials for simulation equipment technologies and related A/V and computer hardware and software.
- Inventory functionally maintain track depreciation and provide security for all equipment and supplies.
- Implement simulation center schedule in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Communicate and work effectively with all Simulation Center educators staff clinical partners and students.
- Set up and take down simulation laboratory equipment allowing for rapid turnover of simulation lab set up as necessary.
- Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios.
- Offer technical assistance support and training to faculty clinical partners and staff in use of simulation equipment.
- Maintain simulation and learner confidentiality.
- Create databases and implement data collection for ongoing program outcomes evaluation accreditation research or grant requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Management Information Technology from an accredited schoolOR the equivalent relevant experience education and/or training demonstrating the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position.
- Two years of experience in computer technology troubleshooting simulation and/or technical support related to simulation networking computer hardware or software.
- Physical ability to lift move maintain and set up computer audio-visual and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Excellent interpersonal problem-solving organizational and communication skills.
- Skills in operating PC and Mac platforms with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn new technology and software programs quickly.
- Ability to operate standard A/V equipment including projectors microphones potable screens and other media.
- Evening or weekend shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
- Current clinical knowledge and minimum experience working in a healthcare related field such as emergency medical technician paramedic or other allied health profession certification and training.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology.
