This work unit exists to plan design construct operate maintain and manage the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing a safe sanitary and effective environment for clients youth residents consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities and campuses and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Facilities served are: Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) Pueblo Regional Center (PRC) Division of Youth Services (Zeb Pike Spring Creek and Pueblo Youth Services Center) and the Veterans Community Living Centers in the Southern District. Total facilities served are approximately 2 million sq. ft. at multiple sites within the Southern Region. The unit establishes and maintains a pleasant safe and sanitary environment for clients personnel and visitors in the buildings of the Department of Human Services.
Function as work leader by training employees reviewing and inspecting completed work assignments assigns and coordinates daily duties special projects and staff work requests.
Complete monthly re-inspections in the assigned area.
Assure all work performed is in compliance with current DFM standards.
Determine need for project work coordinate and schedule with area staff and supervisor and perform work.
Arrange a daily cleaning schedule to work around absent employees and supervisors changing programs work requests and problems when the need occurs.
Ensure proper area coverage under heavy workloads and staff shortages.
Perform daily cleaning sanitizing and servicing of assigned work area per schedules and procedures which consists of sweeping dust mopping wet mopping vacuuming restroom cleaning and other related duties.
Use appropriate disinfectant cleaners chemicals and equipment to clean and sanitize.
Perform daily detailed cleaning of assigned area using appropriate disinfectant cleaners chemicals and equipment which consists of washing walls doors frames sills windows baseboards fixtures furnishings ceilings vents and light fixtures.
Perform project floor work which consists of buffing scrubbing stripping waxing sealing of hard floor surfaces bonnet cleaning spot cleaning shampooing and extracting of carpeted floors by use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Furniture moving as required.
Collect and dispose of trash recycle shredding and biohazard waste by properly containing and transporting to proper disposal locations.
Maintain equipment and supply inventories orders and issues cleaning supplies.
Perform essential and/or emergency services to include callbacks without delay or interruption.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time in-person essential position. Shift work may be required. Must be available for and respond to call backs to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency in a timely manner.
Essential Positions. Positions that perform essential law enforcement highway maintenance and other support services directly necessary for the health safety and welfare of patients residents and inmates of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can be only FLSA non exempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.
Call Back applies when an eligible employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities such as schools colleges hospitals long-term care facilities mental health institutes or correctional institutions.
Experience sweeping and mopping floors cleaning restrooms emptying trash as well as performing general dusting and vacuuming within schools colleges hospitals long-term care facilities mental health institutes or correctional institutions.
Experience working in a lead role that included assigning tasks training monitoring progress and workflow checking the product scheduling work and establishing work standards.

Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must:
