We are seeking a candidate with interests and experience in design engineering technology and education to join our team as an engineering design teacher at Andover High School. Students in engineering and design learn to flex their creative muscles through the process of design prototyping and making and we are seeking a creative innovative student-centered teacher to lead them. Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues to develop engaging design thinking and engineering curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking and real-world problem solving. Provide instruction in the use of simple hand and power tools as well as fabrication equipment such as 3D printers laser cutting and CNC machines. Teach innovative engineering/design courses in a differentiated and student-centered classroom. Responsible for the routine upkeep of engineering design lab space equipment and materials. Provide supervision of the fabrication lab specifically with respect to safety and acceptable use policies. Qualifications MA Certification in either Technology/Engineering 5-12 or Visual Arts 5-12 Demonstrate expertise and confidence with multiple but not necessarily all of the following design and fabrication processes and tools: Design Thinking Software: CAD and CAM Simple Programming (i.e. Arduino Scratch) Electronics (Simple DC circuits breadboarding Arduino sensors and motors etc.) Fabrication equipment: i.e. 3D printers laser cutting CNC sewing hand and small power tools. Enjoys integrating creative work in the fields of art engineering computer science design fabrication or other related disciplines.
