Job Description
JOB GOAL:
To aid and support the academic success of students by providing positive behavior interventions and supports.
SUMMARY:

Mabelvale Middle School seeks to provide a rigorous structured academic setting where leaders learn and learners lead. Students at MMS will benet from a rich collection of opportunities designed to equip learners with the necessary tools to lead within and beyond the walls of the school so that they are able to positively impact their communities and society.

Using quality grade level instruction coupled with engaging meaningful and armative educational experiences we will cultivate and nurture an environment that celebrates the diverse strengths of our learners to build and grow prepared and healthy people so they can achieve success at high levels both at school and in the community.
Mabelvale Middle School will serve as a beacon to stakeholders and an avenue to addressing trauma promoting wellbeing and elevating learning for all. This will be done through giving deliberate intention to implementing school-wide systems that embody mastery-based learning opportunities a growth-based educational approach and strength-based instruction in every classroom. Learners will engage in high levels of hands-on experiences real world investigations and applied literacy and mathematics learning. Students at MMS will have opportunities to engage in structured science technology reading/writing engineering arts and mathematics (STREAM) experiences from kindergarten through eighth grade building a strong cohort of leaders who possess 21st Century skills for collaborative problem-solving technological literacy and career-readiness.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month (190 days) contract Table 802 Grade 28 NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon experience. FLSA: Non- Exempt.
This position is reviewed annually and is contingent upon appropriate funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of ve (5) years job experience in public or private Required BA degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program. Masters preferred.
- Minimum of ve (5) years in public education with three (3) years job experience working with at-risk students.
- Experience in implementation of behavioral
- Must display knowledge of basic computer skills (Word Processing).
- Sensitivity to language and cultural dierences.
- Excellent communication and social skills.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of working with children and adults.
- Commitment to the importance of condentiality of records
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. - Provides on-going consultation to school personnel in dealing with students experiencing
- Works collaboratively with school administration and other personnel in facilitating the implementation of appropriate strategies and
- Works directly with teachers in assessing students social/behavioral needs and in designing and implementing behavior management plans to meet the needs of disabled and non-disabled students.
- Works with teachers and other school personnel in conducting eective social skills training and crisis prevention.
- Provides technical assistance and support for the instructional improvement
- Provides in-service training of school personnel on behavior interventions crisis prevention interventions and anger management.
- Participates in professional growth and development
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students parents co-workers Schedules and/or attends conferences with parents. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure condentiality of student and employee records.
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year.
Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
