The Music Department at the University of San Diego housed within the College of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to providing exceptional undergraduate music education within a vibrant liberal arts context. We serve as a dynamic hub for musical creativity offering a wide-ranging and inclusive curriculum alongside a rich array of ensembles that reflect diverse musical traditions and styles. We offer a comprehensive Music major with emphases in Performance Teaching & Learning Composition Theory and History & Culture. Additionally we provide a flexible General Music major and a Music minor both well-suited for students pursuing dual degrees or interdisciplinary interests.

The Music Department at the University of San Diego housed within the College of Arts and Sciences invites applicants for the position of Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor of Choral Studies to begin in the fall of 2026. This is a full-time appointment. The successful candidate will be the director of the choral area responsible for coordinating our select vocal program (the Choral Scholars) directing the Concert Choir and providing leadership for the voice area. Additional duties will include assisting in department recruitment both on campus and in the community maintaining an active creative and scholarly performance portfolio and teaching additional courses that reflect the candidates expertise as well as service to the College of Arts and Sciences and the University. A secondary emphasis may also be considered including but not limited to general music education diverse vocal ensemble traditions music technology or music therapy.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
Candidates should hold a DMA in Choral Conducting PhD in Music Education or a terminal degree in a closely related field. ABD candidates will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates should also have college teaching experience with other relevant teaching/conducting experience also considered.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience education and other factors including departmental budget.
