Reporting to the Coordinator Building Maintenance Support the Area Leader Building Maintenance Contracts provides strategic and operational leadership over the departments contract management functions ensuring the effective delivery of high-value bundled and direct service contracts that support Councils planned and reactive building maintenance programs.
You will lead a team of Contract Officers guiding the administration monitoring and review of hard and soft service contracts to ensure services are compliant to statutory and regulatory requirements high-quality cost-effective and aligned with Councils strategic objectives.
This position may require occasional weekend public holiday and after-hours work as well as travel across the municipality.
What your day will look like
Lead mentor and supervise the Contract Management team
Oversee contract compliance with SLAs KPIs cost expectations and risk obligations
Provide expert contract advice to internal stakeholders and leadership
Collaborate with Procurement and Finance on contract planning renewals and variations
Oversee contract documentation reporting and approvals
Monitor budgets cost variations and expenditure forecasting
Develop and maintain strong relationships with major contractors and vendors
Drive continuous improvement in contract management systems processes and governance
What you will bring
Degree or diploma in Contract Management Procurement Business Administration or Facilities Management with extensive relevant experience
Minimum 4 years experience managing high-value service contracts
Strong knowledge of contract law facility and infrastructure statutory requirements procurement frameworks and performance-based contract structures
Understanding of building systems asset lifecycle requirements and financial management systems
Experience in compiling specifications for high-value third-party contracts
Demonstrated leadership and staff management skills
Strong negotiation dispute resolution and communication skills
Proficiency in contract management systems
Current Victorian Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check
