Sommelier

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to join a luxury safari lodge located in the iconic Kruger National Park. This role is ideal for a wine enthusiast who thrives on creating tailored guest experiences and enjoys sharing their knowledge in an exclusive high-end hospitality setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver bespoke guest wine experiences with a refined thoughtful approach
  

• Conduct wine service during meals aligned with guest preferences and dining selections
  

• Recommend wines that complement the menu and match stylistic guest expectations
  

• Host wine tastings and engage with guests to foster appreciation and passion for wine
  

• Confidently host repeat guests with adaptability and professionalism
  

• Maintain cellar stock and controls including proper checks and balances
  

• Oversee wine stock transfers cellar replenishments and bulk wine facilities
  

• Conduct sales invoicing stock management and relevant administrative duties
  

• Prepare detailed reports for lodge management property teams and senior sommeliers
  

• Drive staff training and development across multiple lodges
  

• Ensure all wine service and handling meets luxury hospitality standards
  

Requirements:

• Cape Wine Diploma or equivalent sommelier qualification
  

• Basic international wine course or WSET Level 3 preferred
  

• Proven hospitality experience with a strong focus on guest interaction and service
  

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
  

• Strong wine knowledge and sales ability
  

• High attention to detail and strong report-writing skills
  

• Organised with excellent administrative capabilities
  

• Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel); MS Projects is advantageous
  

• Professional personal presentation and email etiquette
  

• Physically capable of managing wine logistics
  

• Valid Driver s Licence
  

• Possession of a valid South African work permit (if not a citizen)
