Job Description
An electrical engineering firm in Nelspruit is seeking an EC and I engineer to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Role Overview:
As an EC&I Engineer you will be responsible for specifying designing and supporting electrical and instrumentation systems. Youll play a key role in ensuring plant safety operational reliability and regulatory compliance while working on both new installations and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems including PLC SCADA and DCS architectures
- Specify and select appropriate instrumentation and control equipment
- Produce technical documentation: wiring diagrams loop drawings and control philosophies
- Commission and troubleshoot EC&I systems on-site
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations industry standards and project specifications
- Collaborate with mechanical electrical and project teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Participate in HAZOP and risk assessments where applicable
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering Control Engineering Instrumentation or a related field
- 3 years of experience in EC&I engineering within relevant sector
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g. Siemens Allen-Bradley Schneider) and SCADA/HMI systems
- Good understanding of electrical schematics P&IDs and control panel design
- Familiarity with ATEX IEC or ISA standards
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel to site locations when needed
