Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Conducting environmental inspections and taking action to address outcomes - including development of short-term improvement plan.
- Conduct inspections and internal audits for license and permit compliance.
- Support the implementation of improvement plans to address identified compliance gaps.
- Assist with internal and external communications and engagement obligations regarding site environmental compliance including the hosting regulatory site visits preparing reports etc.
- Assist to maintain a list of material environmental risks.
- Assist to implement and field verify critical controls for each material environmental risk
- Assist implementation of the sites Environmental Management Systems
- Assist to maintain and utilize relevant environmental models in order to predict future environmental impacts and/or proactively manage key site environmental risks (with providing data and supporting information).
- Support the implementation of actions and improvement plans to address findings from incident investigations and to prevent repeat incidents.
- Assist with training of Environmental interns on the environmental incident procedure.
- Understand the stated annual performance objectives and assist in monitoring and reporting progress.
- Assist with monitoring of progress against environmental targets and key risks.
- Provide input on environmental reports for meetings as required.
- Take part and support in regular meetings with regulators/authorities and local communities.
- Assist to implement the Environmental Monitoring Program for the site (by conducting monitoring and/or overseeing monitoring conducted by third parties).
- Assist with the capture and review of key monitoring results in order to generate trends and assess implications.
This role is at a D1 level reporting to the Environmental Specialist.
Qualifications :
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science or any other Natural Sciences related qualification
- Relevant short courses such as Environmental law ISO14001 and Auditing
Experience and skills
- At least 3 years experience in mining/process environment in related field.
- Environmental auditing skills
- Must be computer literate in MS Office especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Good knowledge in Presentations and Training
- Valid drivers license
