Job Description

Content Marketing Team Leader

Location: Cape Town (Hybrid: Mondays and Thursdays in office)
Working Hours: 07H00 15H30 SAST
Contract Type: Permanent
Reports to: Associate Director Marketing (Australia-based)
Salary: R70 000 per month

Role Summary:

The Content Marketing Team Leader plays a critical role in the strategy development and execution of high-impact marketing content across digital platforms. This role is key to aligning content with business goals leading a high-performing team and using analytics to drive continuous improvement. Youll collaborate closely with academic and marketing stakeholders to ensure consistent effective and brand-aligned content delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Content Leadership

  • Develop and implement content strategies aligned to business goals like lead generation brand awareness and revenue growth

  • Ensure content is tailored to the buyer journey and utilises emotional/logical triggers at each stage

  • Leverage data insights and analytics to continuously improve content performance

  • Work cross-functionally to align content with broader marketing objectives

Operational Oversight & Quality Control

  • Manage and guide Content Marketing Coordinators

  • Oversee timely delivery of engaging and accurate website and marketing content

  • Contribute to course guide updates and maintain tone and brand voice

  • Use CMS systems AI tools and content optimisation software

  • Apply project management best practices and ensure SEO effectiveness

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide mentorship and clear direction to team members

  • Encourage accountability ownership and professional growth

  • Conduct regular team reviews foster collaboration and lead through transitions

  • Demonstrate proactive problem solving business etiquette and stakeholder engagement

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Partner with Marketing Managers to align content with digital strategies

  • Collaborate with Academic Teams to ensure accurate course representation

  • Champion new tools and advocate for digital content marketing best practices

Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor content engagement metrics to inform strategies

  • Leverage SEO AI and digital marketing analytics

  • Implement scalable workflows and stay current with industry trends

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Marketing Strategic Communications or related field

  • 10 years experience in B2C content marketing preferably in large organisations

  • Strong project management experience ideally using platforms like

  • Demonstrated use of data-driven insights in content strategy

  • Proven team leadership and mentoring experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally

  • Commercial acumen and adaptability to fast-paced environments

  • High level of attention to detail accuracy and multitasking ability

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the Higher Education sector

  • Previous collaboration with international teams
