Job title: Facilitator for a 6yearold neurodivergent boy in Paarl.
We are seeking a facilitator to support a curious and bright 6yearold boy who is passionate about ocean creatures dinosaurs and maths. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with young children and an understanding of neurodiversity.
This role involves supporting the child primarily with social interactions relationshipbuilding and helping him navigate social contexts with understanding and empathy. The right person will have a calm lowarousal temperament excellent executive functioning skills and a kind nurturing demeanour.
You will also assist after school hours in an au pair capacity supporting both this child and his 4yearold brother.
Main Purpose of the job:
To be a helping hand to an individual with unique and specific support needs giving him the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion to be a secure long term and consistent source of support is of the utmost importance.
The candidate will be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy and thereafter receive personalised support from a Facilitation Coordinator for 46 weeks working in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
The facilitator will play a key role in supporting the emotional and social development of a neurodivergent 6yearold boy both at school and at home while also assisting with the care of his 4yearold brother in an au pair capacity at home. The primary objectives of this role include:
Building a trusting and supportive relationship with both children grounded in patience consistency and understanding.
Attending school with the 6 year old sibling to provide scaffolding and realtime support particularly in navigating social situations and social demands.
Supporting his emotional regulation through proactive strategies coregulation and the consistent use of calming and sensory tools.
Facilitating the development of social understanding peer interactions and relationshipbuilding across different environments.
Acting as a communication bridge between the learner teachers therapists and parents to ensure aligned holistic support.
Assisting in breaking down instructions and tasks chunking information and creating visual aids where needed to enhance understanding and participation.
Anticipating and reducing anxiety through structure routine and gentle preparation for transitions and new experiences.
Transporting both children home from school daily and accompanying them to therapy appointments and extracurricular activities on designated days.
Assisting with general afterschool au pair duties including supervision light meal preparation and engaging the children in ageappropriate activities.
