The Role
The School of Psychology at Newcastle University ( is pleased to offer a 0.2 FTE post for a period of two years to support our new undergraduate Cognitive Science Programme.
We are interested in applicants from diverse backgrounds in Cognitive Science who can contribute to the development of the programme and teach a relevant module ideally linked to artificial intelligence. The post holder will have exceptional communication skills and will be central to international enquiries. A good background in international academic institutions will be of benefit.

Key Accountabilities
- To contribute to the promotion of our Cognitive Science programme and student recruitment.
- To contribute to the development of the Cognitive Science programme.
- To contribute to teaching and module leadership in the area of Cognitive Science.
- To embed research expertise into teaching where possible.
- To demonstrate leadership regarding external partnerships/collaborations with relevant organisations.
- To act as a personal tutor to a small group of Cognitive Science students.
- To undertake administrative duties as deemed necessary including participation in relevant School and Faculty committees and activities.
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge Skills and Experience
- Specialist knowledge in an area of Cognitive Science ideally computational cognitive science.
- Ability to lead and contribute to the delivery of teaching and supervision including quantitative and computational skills.
- Experience and leadership in processes involved in module and programme development.
- Understanding of the processes to conduct and disseminate scientific research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders (including academic and non-academic audiences).
- Excellent organisational administrative and planning skills.
- Experience of leadership and citizenship roles commensurate with career stage.
- Evidence of collaborative inter-disciplinary working.

Qualifications
- PhD in Cognitive Science or related discipline.
- Higher Education Teaching qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. Fellowship of the HEA).
- Track record of academic excellence.
Desirable
- Experience of external citizenship roles (e.g. committee service).
