Job Title: Senior Development Manager

Location: Cambridge UK

Salary: 53759

Contract: Full time Permanent

Reporting to: Associate Director Development

Principle Accountability

The Senior Development Manager is a new role within the Development Team that will coordinate the creation of content for donor partners in support of CAMFEDs global development strategy. Working from within the CAMFED International team in the UK and in close collaboration with colleagues across the consortium the role-holder will play a key role in creating a more integrated approach to donor stewardship and solicitation across the Development Team.

The Senior Development Manager will join a fast-paced goal-oriented global development team at CAMFED International working in coordination to deliver on an ambitious fundraising strategy and deploying a world-class approach to partnership management. Specific Accountabilities

Coordinate content development for stewardship and solicitation

Work with the Associate Director and Relationship Managers across the Development team as well as colleagues in Comms MERL Finance Digital and Operations to coordinate and support global stewardship and solicitation activity in particular through:

  • Coordinating the alignment of reports appeals updates and other outreach to key content collection activities KPI and research updates and organisational news/communications
  • Coordinating the commissioning of content which can serve multiple audiences or purposes liaising with Executive Leadership to secure input permissions and check positioning
  • Assigning and supporting team members to assist with responsive content requests such as briefings for donor calls or visits and other ad hoc partner requests or queries as they arise
  • Supporting Relationship Managers in the development of solicitations as agreed and particularly relating to complex/strategic/high value philanthropic partnerships including writing editing and coordinating proposals and concept notes as required

Quality assure written materials and deliverables to support solicitation and stewardship

  • Quality assure written output of colleagues within the Development team as agreed including designated reports proposals and other written updates with an eye to accuracy consistency risk mitigation and strategic positioning
  • Quality assure resources for use by the Development team including stock resources or templates and programme/impact information

Co-develop and promote effective processes and ways of working

  • Co-develop and lead implementation of processes for improving quality and efficiency of global and cross-functional content collection information management and generation of reports and proposals more broadly
  • Work with the Associate Director to oversee and manage workload across the team and co-develop and promote ways of working that support motivation leadership resilience and psychological safety at work

Manage and develop colleagues in the Development team

  • Work with Associate Directors and Chief Development Officer to build understanding of donor needs and priorities across the team
  • Design and lead relevant training and professional development for team members in particular building capacity for writing content development and information management
  • Line management recruitment and onboarding of team members as required

Person Specification

  • Experience in a relevant role in the International Development sector including a focus on content creation for donors
  • Leadership skills including an ability to take decisions and make recommendations to senior colleagues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a particular ability to write compelling and accessible narratives for a range of donor audiences
  • Organised and responsive with a proven ability to progress multiple workstreams prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and resourceful with an ability to take initiative and develop solutions to challenges as they arise
  • Reflective with a commitment to learning and professional development
  • Experience of developing and mentoring others with empathy and with a focus on promoting wellbeing
  • Commitment to and passion for CAMFEDs values mission and vision as well as education social justice and gender equity
