Job Description
Are you a seasoned Backfill Engineer with a solid track record in underground mine backfill systems and geotechnical engineering Our client a leading global engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Backfill Engineer to join their growing team of technical experts on cutting-edge mining projects across Africa and beyond.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of mine backfill systems (paste hydraulic and cemented rock fill) for underground operations
- Provide technical leadership on feasibility studies detailed designs and construction support
- Review and develop technical specifications engineering calculations and tender documents
- Manage and mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct site visits for audits investigations and implementation support
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards regulations and client requirements
- Liaise with clients contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
- BEng degree in Mining Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng)
- Minimum of 10 years experience in backfill engineering preferably within a consulting environment
- Strong technical background in the design and implementation of underground backfill systems
- Proficiency in relevant engineering design software and modelling tools
- Excellent communication project management and leadership skills
