Our client is looking for a Night Manager to be responsible for the coordination of patient care and the operational services of the hospital during the night.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management of Clinical and Quality Outcomes
Ensures awareness compliance adherence to nursing policies SOPs Code of Conduct and other relevant acts to improve nursing standards.
Controls drugs as per regulations of the Dangerous Drug Act (15:02) performs checks on drug totals and drug register ensures that procedures and recording are adhered to.
Manages the emergency drug room.
Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of quality assurance and clinical effectiveness within the hospital.
Ensures optimal functioning of nursing operations by establishing and managing clinical risks and regular progress reviews with multi- disciplinary teams including driving compliance to the clinical standards.
Maintains a safe clean hygienic environment for all staff patients and visitors ensuring that staff are aware and informed of safety procedures.
Advocates for the rights of the patients and always ensure patient confidentiality.
Encourages and monitors nurses to educate patients in the nature of oral health related conditions and general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
Conducts frequent ward rounds on all units to assess performance and ensures patient care needs are met.
Assess staffing needs and allocates personnel according to patients acuities.
Manages patient admissions bed allocation and transfers within wards other health facilities and casualty.
Investigates incidents and ensure reports are submitted before end of shift.
Administration
Serves as an administrative resource and leader of the hospital during night shift by supervising and coordinating hospital operations cascade any disaster or issues beyond scope.
Liaise with and give reports to the Principal Nursing Officer and day Matrons at handover as and when required throughout the shift.
Manages unit managers / team leaders and collects ward nursing reports. Handover specific patient issues to the day matrons.
Monitors equipment inventory and ensures correct usage of equipment to prevent breakages and helps to reduce downtime of equipment.
Compiles monthly report of the night operational activities.
Quality patient care
Assures staff are implementing care plans delivering care appropriately and recognizes changes in patient status ensures change in patient status is communicated to physicians and escalation of care is rendered as needed.
Promotes and maintains good working and inter- personnel relationships with management patients families staff and doctors.
Identifies and manages patient/family complaints and solve problems as needed.
Advocates for rights of the patients.
Conducts repeat hospital rounds as frequently as possible out of set times and observes nursing care patient visits to ensure that care is carried out as directed and treatment administered appropriately.
Attends to all resuscitation calls and co- ordinates the smooth running of all activities during and after the resuscitation.
Maintains a safe clean hygienic environment for all staff patients and visitors.
Enforces patient quality indicators and evaluates clinical outcomes by regular checking of patient notes.
Conducts quality audits and implement PDSA (Plan Do Sturdy and Act) for quality improvement
People Management
Monitors deploys and manages staff attendance and always ensures hospital coverage. Allocates staff based on workload level of competence to ensure optimal staff usage.
Delegates decision making authority tasks and responsibilities to appropriate person to maximize organization and employee effectiveness.
Manage ward activities including irregularities and policy violations take corrective and follow up action.
Disciplines nurses and support staff when needed and consults with the appropriate department heads regarding disciplinary actions.
Conduct on spot training to ensure the staff competencies
Keep herself/himself up to date with clinical research and developments
Key Skills:

Key Qualifications:
5 O Levels including Mathematics English and Science
Registered General Diploma/Nursing Degree
Post basic qualification in any area of Specialty
5 years after post-basic qualification.
Diploma in Nursing Administration
BSC in Nursing Sciences an added advantage.
