Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Management of Dairy Herd: Oversee the health and welfare of the dairy herd including monitoring milk production managing feeding schedules and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
Staff Supervision: Recruit train and manage farm staff ensuring that all team members are performing their duties effectively and safely
Operational Oversight: Plan and implement daily farm operations including milking feeding and maintaining equipment and facilities
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of herd health production and reproduction as well as financial records related to farm operations
Budget Management: Prepare and manage the annual budget making decisions regarding resource allocation and operational expenditures
Problem Solving: Address any issues related to herd health equipment failure or operational challenges ensuring minimal disruption to farm productivity
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications and Skills
Education: A degree in agriculture animal science or a related field is preferred along with relevant experience in dairy farming
Experience: Previous experience in dairy management or a similar role is essential with a strong understanding of dairy operations and animal husbandry
Leadership Skills
Problem-Solving Skills
Valid drivers license
Communication skills in Afrikaans and English
