As a key member of the Technology Solutions leadership team you will guide a talented group of Cloud Engineers SREs and DevSecOps professionals fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous improvement. You will have the autonomy to drive the cloud infrastructure roadmap implement best practices and work with state-of-the-art technologies like AWS Kubernetes and Terraform. Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Team Development: Lead mentor and cultivate a high-performing team of Cloud Engineers SREs and DevSecOps experts empowering them to innovate and deliver impactful solutions.
- Roadmap Execution & Platform Ownership: Drive the execution of the Cloud Infrastructure roadmap ensuring alignment with strategic platform and business objectives. Take full ownership of the AWS-based cloud environments built with Terraform (infrastructure-as-code) and containerised with Kubernetes focusing on performance cost-efficiency and resilience throughout the SDLC.
- DevOps Advocacy & Best Practices: Champion and embed a strong DevOps culture across all engineering teams promoting collaboration shared ownership and efficient continuous delivery practices.
- Operational Excellence & Compliance: Ensure critical uptime and recovery goals are consistently met; oversee compliance with RTOs RPOs patching monitoring and alerting standards. Implement and maintain robust controls aligned with compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS and ISO27001.
- Collaborative Innovation: Partner closely with the Cloud Architect to design deliver and maintain well-architected observable and cost-optimised infrastructure solutions. Collaborate effectively across various business units including Platform Engineering Product Software Engineering Security and Governance to facilitate cross-functional success.
- Tooling & Automation: Build manage and enhance tooling across CI/CD pipelines observability platforms documentation systems and cloud cost monitoring.
- Continuous Improvement & Growth: Drive innovation by providing teams with the appropriate tools autonomy and environment to experiment iterate and deliver exceptional value. Manage team capacity budgets and the ongoing development of capabilities in line with emerging technologies and evolving business needs.
Requirements:
Must-Haves:
- Formal Education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Extensive Experience: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in DevOps Cloud Infrastructure or Systems Engineering.
- Leadership Acumen: At least 3 years in a formal leadership or technical management capacity.
- AWS Proficiency: Proven in-depth experience designing operating and scaling production-grade AWS environments.
- Core Technical Expertise: Demonstrable expertise in Terraform for infrastructure-as-code Kubernetes for container orchestration Linux systems administration CI/CD pipeline implementation and robust incident management practices.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Advanced Education: A related tertiary qualification in Computer Science Engineering or a similar field.
- Industry Background: Experience working within high-growth sectors such as Fintech Retail or Technology.
- Cloud Financial Operations: Familiarity with cloud cost optimisation strategies robust security protocols and governance best practices within cloud environments.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks like PCI-DSS and ISO27001.
