Job Description
Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for maintenance machinery and team development A well-established food manufacturing company based in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a proactive and experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our workshop. This pivotal role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and a proven track record in managing workshop teams and ensuring optimal equipment performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and supervise a team of technicians and artisans within the workshop.
- Oversee the maintenance repair and servicing of all plant machinery and equipment.
- Ensure minimal downtime by implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
- Manage workshop budgets inventory and procurement of tools parts and consumables.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support manufacturing goals.
- Enforce health and safety standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Train and develop team members to build a strong efficient and motivated workforce.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment history and safety inspections
Requirements :
- Matric (Grade 12) and a relevant technical qualification (e.g. Mechanical/Electrical Trade Test or Diploma).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred).
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of workshop operations equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to the manufacturing industry.
