An electrical engineering firm in Nelspruit is seeking an electrical systems design engineer.
Duties & Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Systems & Distribution Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role focuses on the design and specification of electrical distribution systems from concept to detailed design including substations switchgear cable systems and control infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design electrical distribution systems including LV/MV switchgear panel boards busbar systems transformers and backup power solutions.
Produce detailed technical drawings schematics cable schedules and single-line diagrams using AutoCAD Revit or similar tools.
Perform load calculations fault level analysis and protective device coordination.
Ensure compliance with national and international electrical standards (e.g. IEC NEC BS7671 IEEE).
Liaise with project managers clients contractors and utility providers.
Provide technical support during installation commissioning and testing phases.
Prepare and review technical documentation design reports and material specifications.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
3 years experience in electrical systems design ideally in building services industrial or infrastructure environments.
Proficient in CAD and electrical design software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical ETAP Dialux Revit MEP).
Solid knowledge of power distribution systems protection schemes and relevant codes of practice.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
