Our client in the SETA industry is seeking the services of an experienced and qualified Financial Controller for a period of 12 months. This role aims to provide outsourced financial management support to alleviate temporary capacity challenges within their Finance Department.
Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices and ensure creditor payments are made within 30 days.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents in line with records management policies.
- Manage month-end financial closure including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Compile financial reports and statements for analysis forecasting trending and results review.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly expenditure reports for all cost centres.
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements including supporting schedules and notes.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Allocate budgets to procurement requisitions and reconcile budget allocations.
- Prepare quarterly financial reports for submission to DHET and National Treasury templates.
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Perform ad hoc financial tasks as required.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
BCom Honours in Accounting or Financial Management (preferred) OR
BCom Degree in Accounting or Financial Management OR
National Diploma in Accounting or Financial Management (minimum requirement).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in financial control or a similar role.
SAGE Evolution 200 proficiency with at least 4 years experience (preferred).
Demonstrated experience within the public sector for 4 years or more (preferred).
Technical Competencies:
Strong knowledge of financial reporting reconciliations and regulatory compliance.
Ability to prepare reports in line with public sector financial requirements and standards.
Excellent analytical problem-solving and attention-to-detail capabilities.

Sound understanding of public sector financial processes regulations and reporting requirements.
Requirements: Relevant qualification in Accounting or Financial Management (Diploma, Degree, or Honours). Minimum 5 years experience in financial control. SAGE Evolution 200 experience is essential (4+ years preferred). Public sector finance experience is required. Strong financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance skills. High level of confidentiality and ability to work independently.
