Job Description

Data Scientist / Algorithm Developer

Location & Salary

  • Location: Cape Town

  • Work Model: Flexible/Hybrid

  • Salary Range: R1.3 mil - R1.4 mil PA

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate signal processing algorithms

  • Develop and document data science architecture

  • Independently build algorithms under senior guidance

  • Collaborate with sports scientists to gather quality sensor data

  • Create predictive ML models for team strategy insights

Required Skills & Experience

  • BEng/BSc in Electronic Engineering Computer Science or Mathematics

  • Knowledge of signal processing (e.g. filtering time-frequency transforms)

  • Understanding of performance metrics (e.g. ROC curves)

  • Familiarity with ML models: regression decision trees SVMs neural networks

  • Experience with tools like Python MATLAB Octave or R

Personal Traits

  • Technically curious with strong time management

  • Hands-on and detail-oriented

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong interest in sports trends and analytics

Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Chief Product Officer

  • Works with: Project Manager Mechanical Engineers Embedded SW team
