Job Description
The Shaft Rock Engineer is responsible for providing the Shaft with specialist Rock Engineering services and expertise that forms part of the MRM department.
- Setting rock engineering standards at a Shaft
- Advise on rock engineering issues
- Stop dangerous or nonstandard working places
- Preparation and design of rock engineering plans and reports
- Calling out specialist rock engineering expertise when problems occur
- Rock engineering budget preparation and management
- Compile and maintain mandatory Code of Practice to combat rock bursts and rock falls
- Day-to-day engineering and design recommendations suitably backed up by modelling or other techniques
- Alternative support systems
- Accident investigation and associated reporting
This position will be reporting the Chief Rock Engineer
Qualifications :
- COM Rock Mechanics Certificate for Metalliferous Mines
- 5 years experience in mining; rock engineering or strata control
- Demonstrated ability to meet technical and responsibility requirements of the legal appointment.
- Member of professional body (SANIRE)
